Students of all courses must complete the following survey.
Interesting video from Google. With appearances from FIRST robotics! As a 2002 WCHS grad, it has been an interesting experience growing up here as a teenager and then again as an adult. Looking back on the opportunities I was given, or not given, drives the way I approach technology education.
Day to day, the highest form of technology we experience is in our handheld devices and on the Internet. These communications technologies are only a sidebar to what grand innovations that are creating real change in industry and medicine. It should be the goal of all educators to have their students become creators and innovators of technology. Not passive users. This pertains to every subject area. Science and math teachers provide students with the knowledge of nature, statistical literacy, and the scientific method. Social studies and government can show students how policy will drive us forward or leave us lagging behind. The arts give students the skills and confidence to become creators of content. The world, like always, is changing and the current generation of WCHS students will see change occur faster than ever before. Consider this, due to the exponential growth of advances in medicine and technology, and the accelerated returns they bring, the percentage of the incoming freshman class that will be alive to see the 22nd century is far greater than you would guess. |
